Field Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator

Location: Sherwood Park, AB

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the HSE Field Lead, you will actively support and implement the HPS Health and Safety management program whilst working at various field sites with clients, contractors and HPS employees.

This is an out of town position with a work rotation set by the client. Rotations vary but are usually 3 weeks on and 1 week off.

Conditions of employment include:

  • Three years of field HSE experience, preferably in a construction industry
  • Possess NCSO or other Alberta recognized safety designation
  • Knowledge of ENFORM COR requirements an asset
  • Sound understanding of OH&S regulations is required

Shop Labourer

Location: Edmonton, AB

Helical Pier Systems is seeking Shop Labourers for the day shift to join our team in Edmonton.

Position Summary:

Working in this entry level position this role will involve helping all staff within a construction shop environment, as well as general shop clean up duties. Learning and working safely you will gain the required skills to move into other roles within the organization.

This is a full time day shift position working Tuesday – Friday 6:00am – 4:30pm working 10 hour shifts.

Shop Welder

Location: Lamont, AB

Helical Pier Systems is seeking a CWB Manufacturing Welder to join our team in Lamont, Alberta.

A Manufacturing Welder will be certified and comply with CSA 47.1 and 59 standards and all of the requirements as outlined by the Canadian Welding Bureau. Manufacturing piles and other attachments they will safely work within the production team to achieve a consistent high level of quality and productivity in all aspect of the job. This position is based out of our Lamont, AB shop facility. You must live in the Lamont area, or commute from Ft. Saskatchewan. This is NOT a camp or hotel position.

Position Summary:

Directly reporting to the VP of HSE, the HSE Program Director will direct the HSE Team and will be responsible for leading and driving the execution of all components of the HSE Strategy and Management System in the field in a manner that continuously strengthens our HSE performance.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage the Enform COR external and conduct the internal audits for BC & Alberta
  • Set goals & implement new COR audit expectations for compliance in all facilities and field areas
  • Manage WCB claims for BC, Alberta & Ontario (companywide)
  • Conduct full & mini audits as required
  • Create, implement and manage new programs & policies to evolve the current HSE system
  • Uphold the core value of HSE in the company by delivering programs that reinforce desired behaviors
  • Ensure ongoing implementation of HSE programs that adhere to customer, government and on-going standards
  • Assist operations/management in reducing injuries and losses to employees and property by providing technical assistance
  • Interface with clients and management to provide status updates and coaching as needed

  • Traveling within & outside Alberta to field locations & facilities is a requirement

Health, Safety and Environment Field Director

Position Summary:

The HSE Field Director will have a 70/30 office/field position. This position is directly responsible for administering & maintaining the Health, Safety & Environmental system of all field sites ensuring compliance with OH&S and applicable legislation which allows for a safe work environment. The HSE Field Director will provide guidance and direction during pre-bid, pre-job planning and on site to ensure HPS policies and procedures are implemented, risk factors are mitigated and new or potential hazards are identified and corrected. The HSE Field Director will develop the agenda and help to coordinate safety tasks and training and ensure the “Safety Culture”is evolving in all field areas.  Reporting to the VP of HSE and working hand in hand with area HSE Field Coordinators, Supervisors and Management to develop task safetyanalysis, safe work practices and safe job procedures as new processes are created or changed. Leading & driving all components of the HSE strategy and management system in a manner that continuously strengthens our HSE performance.The incumbent will become a full time employee; no consulting contracts will be accepted.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate and conduct weekly formal audits and non-formal site inspections, reviewing reports and ensuring appropriate follow-up regarding the completion of all action items
  • Coordinate comprehensive investigation processes regarding all incidents occurring in the facility relating to safety, health and the environment
  • Maintain environmental and safety statistics and reporting as required; monthly, quarterly, and annually
  • Identify hazard areas and ensure procedures are in place, communicated and followed to prevent incidents
  • Liaise with medical practitioners, WCB agents and injured or ill employees regarding the collection and timely dissemination of documentation relating to employee injury and illness
  • Work within budgets for safety supplies, equipment, and services needed for Department
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are communicated and understood at all levels of employment
  • Negotiate cost of safety supplies, equipment, and services to maximize efficiency of resources for the field sites
  • Report findings of inspections and establish reasonable timelines for corrections of deficiencies found at time of inspections and manage documentation
  • Work with various regulatory agencies to gather information and reach resolutions to issues that arise
  • Recommend controls and procedures to minimize site risk of Health, Safety, & Environmental incidents
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to HSE Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions by participating in safety meetings, completing required training, intervening in unsafe situations, refusing unsafe work, and complying fully with all applicable laws and regulations related to HSE
  • Maintain strong coordination, organization, and communication skills
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Draftsperson

Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta

Helical Pier Systems is seeking a permanent full time intermediate to senior Civil Draftsperson to join our team in Sherwood Park, Alberta.

The Draftsperson will be responsible for the development and preparation of engineering drawings using MicroStation V8i.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide drafting support to team members
  • Create and maintain CADD drawings for helical pile foundations and steel structure elements
  • Contribute to the production of as-built CADD drawing packages of steel components used our manufacturing facilities, and drive head attachments from our fleet of field installation equipment

Shop Supervisor

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Helical Pier Systems is seeking a Fleet Shop Supervisor to support the Fleet Manager in the successful running of the Fleet Shop. The Fleet Shop services heavy equipment used in construction, including skid steers, excavators, loaders and trucks. The Shop Supervisor is scheduled to work Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm with accessibility by phone after 4:00 pm weekdays and on the weekends.

As the Fleet Shop Supervisor you will assist the Fleet Manager to ensure proper staffing with qualified personnel. You will also assist in training, coaching and development of the mechanics. The Shop Supervisor schedules the work assignments to the mechanics and follows through the completion of repairs and daily preventative maintenance of both on-highway and off-highway heavy equipment and trucks.

You bring the following:

  • Licensed Heavy Equipment Mechanic
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant supervisory experience

QA/QC Administrator

Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta

Helical Pier Systems Ltd. is seeking a full time permanent Internal QAQC Administrator for our Sherwood Park office.

Under the direction of our QAQC Manager, the main responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Ensure that all project quality control documents such as project quality plans, inspection and test plans (ITP), construction and commissioning binders, field QA/QC documents, Subcontractors QA/QC documents are in place, implemented, monitored and results are recorded in a timely and organized fashioned
  • Work in collaboration with the Subcontractors, Client, Project Manager, Field Coordinator and third party testing laboratory & witnessing inspection & acceptance test throughout project construction & commissioning cycle
  • Control the input/output of documentation pertaining to projects, from manufacturing to installation as well as all engineering documents
  • Work closely with the project managers and engineering department to ensure the flow of documentation is accurate
  • Prepare project completion turnover packages
  • Data input, file organization and file maintenance is essential to this position
  • Gather and complete all turnover documentation required for each client
  • Ensuring that documents are managed in an organized fashion
  • Attending to internal and external document inquiries in a timely manner
  • Document management, including preparation of reports and other documents, distribution, filing and archiving of documents
  • Receive, log, track, and file client documents
  • Follow all QAQC procedures and policies

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years QAQC Administrative Experience
  • Quality auditing, inspection and EPC construction experience is an asset
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required
  • Strong teamwork ethics
  • Experience in International and CSA Standards
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision

Surveyor (Construction)

Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Working Out of Town)

Helical Pier Systems Ltd. (HPS), North America’s largest engineering, manufacturer, and installer of helical piles, since 1977, has an immediate opening for a Surveyor (Construction).

Under the direct supervision of Surveyor Manager, the Surveyor’s main responsibilities will include:

  • Completion of various types of surveys including stake outs and topographic surveys
  • Ensuring implementation company safe work policy and quality assurance
  • Communicating scope and schedule information to team members
  • Managing the flow of data from field to office and back
  • Ensuring project tasks are completed on time and accurate
  • Having field notes that are clear, concise and accurate

Qualifications:

  • Preferably have a technical diploma in geometrics with a minimum of 2 years in the Survey field. A combination of field experience and education would also be acceptable
  • Excellent writing and communication skills and attention to detail
  • Competency with computers, total stations, GPS and laser levels
  • Willingness to learn new methods/field software
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract for the past 3 years

Position Summary:

The Heavy Duty Shop Mechanic’s main responsibility is to diagnose and complete repairs on all company heavy equipment and trucks (Excavators, Digger Derrick Booms, Skid Steer, Drive Heads, and Loaders.) You must have the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as have the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components.

We are in need of an experienced Project Manager to join our team in Sherwood Park.   • Assist with determining project scope, planning and estimating
  • Develop and recommend project execution plans on new projects

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering (Civil, Environmental or Mining) or Construction Engineering technologist
  • Minimum 5 years of experience related to project management in a construction related industry
  • Experience in civil foundation and pile driving a strong asset
  • Extensive experience using scheduling, costing, and estimating software (Primavera)
  •  Advanced computer competency with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Projects and/or Primavera Planner

Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator (Fort St. John, BC)

Location: Fort St. John, B.C.

Position Summary:

You will actively participate in supporting the Health and Safety programs at the Fort St. John facility and also be traveling to various field sites and working with clients and contractors to maintain the safety management system.    

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the HSE team to develop and maintain health and safety standards that reflect regulatory requirements and management expectations
  • Maintain high levels of workplace HSE visibility and engagement with day-to-day support as well as project work planning, providing a visible liaison between office and field operations.
  • Perform incident investigation and ensure all investigations are carried out through to conclusion with recommendations and review.
  • Attend Safety meetings and actively participate in work planning processes
  • Provide input, based on site conditions and performance, to aid in the identification and development of HSE processes, standards, policies, procedures, and work practices for the work site
  • Monitor safety performance and support management in the development of corrective action plans to improve performance to meet and exceed goals
  • Complete required paperwork and documentation in a timely neat and organized fashion
  • Assist with local support of project sites as required developing and promoting HSE initiatives and culture for construction and facility projects.
  • Available on call as needed to support emergency response, incident investigations and ongoing operations

Conditions of employment include:

  • Minimum 5 years of HSE experience, preferably in a construction industry
  • Possess NCSO or other Alberta/BC recognized safety designation
  • Knowledge of ENFORM COR requirements
  • Strong understanding of BC OH&S regulations is required
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Helical Pier Systems is seeking Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanics with CVIP Certification to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta.    
 
Position Summary:
The Heavy Duty Mechanic’s main responsibility is to diagnose and complete repairs on company heavy equipment (Tractor/Trailers, Excavators, Digger Derrick Booms, Skid Steer, Drive Heads, and Loaders). Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance on company equipment as well as diagnose and troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems. HPS will provide a tool allowance.
